About EasyGeoIP
A small, transparent network-diagnostics project.
EasyGeoIP helps people understand the public network context visible to websites without pretending that an IP lookup can reveal a person or guarantee anonymity.
Why this project exists
Many IP tools compress uncertain data into confident red and green badges. EasyGeoIP takes the opposite approach: display the address, network, source dates, and specific evidence so the visitor can understand the conclusion.
The project serves a global English-speaking audience and is intentionally usable without registration.
Editorial principles
- Distinguish exact matches from heuristics.
- Describe IP location as approximate.
- Correct factual errors and publish meaningful update dates.
- Keep affiliate relationships separate from diagnostic logic.
- Avoid mass-generated IP result pages in search.
Data and limitations
The service relies on freely available local datasets and curated network context. This reduces the need to transmit visitor addresses to lookup APIs but cannot match the coverage of commercial anonymous-IP products.
